Cal QB Jared Goff tried to vault for yardage but got lifted like a figure skater

Maybe not the best strategy.

Sports fans love hustle. Players known for going all-out every play are often fan favorites. That is especially true when quarterbacks get into the fray and mix it up to fight for that extra yard. Cal quarterback Jared Goff tried to do just that ... except it didn’t work at all.

Let’s see that from the other angle:

Whatever Goff was trying, that defender was not having it. Like at all. He basically turned Goff into a rag doll and just flipped him back and out of bounds. Goff looked more like a couples figure skater who just botched a lift than a quarterback trying to make a play.

To his credit, Goff has successfully fought for and gained extra yards before. He sealed a Cal win earlier this season when he lowered his shoulder and fought through tackles to pick up a first down against Washington. He went low that time, which after watching him against Utah, is probably the way to go in the future.
