Gus Malzahn honors Steve Spurrier by not wearing visor, auctioning it for flood victims instead

The Auburn coach joins everyone else in paying tribute to the Head Ball Coach.

ESPN

Auburn head coach Gus Malzahn is without his trademark visor tonight against Kentucky, and it looks pretty strange. Malzahn is going sans-headgear tonight to honor Steve Spurrier, who stepped down at South Carolina earlier this week and famously wore visors when he wasn’t busy throwing them.

Adding a nice touch, Malzahn signed the visor he would’ve worn and it will be auctioned off in support of South Carolina flood relief efforts. He was far from the only one to give some gesture of appreciation after it was announced Spurrier was leaving.

If this sounds somewhat familiar, LSU star Leonard Fournette wanted to auction off his jersey after LSU’s game with South Carolina was moved from Columbia to Baton Rouge due to the flooding, and after some hand-wringing, the NCAA relented and allowed the plan to move forward.

Good work and very nice gesture, Coach. Now somebody go and buy that dang visor.
