Northern Illinois returned a kickoff for a safety

You can’t do that, Huskies.

Northern Illinois is having a pretty good day against Miami (Ohio). They’re winning 28-5 currently, and should be on their way to a fairly easy win. But you see the 5 next to Miami’s name, and must wonder what kind of weird thing happened to get them to a fünfer. Well, something weird did happen.

That’s Aregeros Turner, fielding the kickoff at the one yard line and then circling back into the end zone for what he thought was a touchback. But, as we know from just knowing the general rules of football, and also from seeing UCF do this exact thing last week, you can’t do that.
