Even in a rebuilding year, Florida State looks like a College Football Playoff contender, with both the offense and the defense more consistent than expected. Part of that is due to the fact that the Seminoles don’t have any offensive turnovers and only have one total turnover all year.
Florida State’s gone from ranking 127th in turnovers to never turning the ball over
Here’s a good reason FSU looks so smooth and steady this year.
Only P5 teams in the last decade with just 1 turnover in 1st 6 games: 2015 FSU 2014 Washington That’s it. That’s the list.
— David Hale (@DavidHaleESPN) October 18, 2015 What makes that even more incredible is that FSU quarterback Everett Golson was a turnover machine last year at Notre Dame, finishing with 14 interceptions. Those interceptions were what led many to believe Golson would have been benched in favor of former backup Malik Zaire had he not transferred. Florida State was just as bad, ranking 127th nationally in giveaways with 32 (that’s out of 128 teams).
Unlike Jameis Winston, FSU has cut the pick-sixes out of its playbook.
