On paper, Week 8 doesn’t seem to be the most exciting of the year, but we’ve already learned this season not to give up on upsets in a slow week. There is only one ranked matchup this week (No. 15 Texas A&M at No. 24 Ole Miss), but of the 14 still-undefeated teams, eight play on the road. Mid- to late-season losses are harder to bounce back from, and one or more teams could experience that challenge.

Three things to know
1) Is Oklahoma on upset alert? Despite a 14-point spread, No. 17 Oklahoma will face an unranked Texas Tech team that almost upset TCU earlier in the season. The Red Raiders haven’t scored less than 30 points in any game this year, with two games having scored 60-plus points. The Sooners may not have put up as many points on average as Texas Tech, but they are coming off a 55-0 shutout over Kansas State.
2) Rankings don’t mean everything. No. 3 Utah is heading to Cali for an evening game against unranked USC. The Trojans have had their fill of off-field issues this season, but were able to make a run on Notre Dame just days after head coach Steve Sarkisian was fired. The Utes have quickly climbed the polls, but could possibly be derailed by a Trojan team looking to keep things football-related in press conferences.
3) First time for Ohio State. Rutgers is a relatively new addition to the Big Ten, which would explain why for the first time in program history, these teams will face off in Piscataway, New Jersey. The No. 1 Buckeyes have yet again named a starting quarterback, and this time, J.T. Barrett will fill the spot. Two historical programs will add a new record to the history book regardless of the winner.
