Golden gone. Just one day after his team lost, 58-0 to Clemson, Al Golden has been fired as the Miami Hurricanes’ coach, ending a very rocky tenure in which the Hurricanes never glimpsed their glory days of the 90s and early 2000s. Just about everyone around the program -- from people with airplane banners to Uncle Luke to former Miami players -- wanted Golden gone, and now they’ll get their wish. Miami started this season 4-3.
Miami and UCF make *7* open head coaching jobs already. It’s Oct 26!
Good morning! It’s your daily digest of yesterday’s college football stuff.

Who’s next? Everybody’s got a list, but Alabama assistant Mario Cristobal, former Rutgers coach Greg Schiano, former Canes coach Butch Davis and Colts assistant Rob Chudzinski seem to be the ones on all of them. State of the U has a poll, with unlikely pick Davis leading.
O’Leary’s gone, too. Just two weeks after resigning as UCF’s athletic director, George O’Leary has also resigned as UCF’s football coach. In a stunning decline, the Knights have started this season 0-8, just two years after winning the Fiesta Bowl.
Who’s next, II? UCF’s search is going to be tied to Miami’s. Underdog Dynasty calls Cristobal the best choice: “Let’s go and get him. And let’s do it before UM does.”
Buckeyes back. Clemson remains atop Spencer Hall's Top Whatever rankings, thanks to that beatdown of Miami, but Ohio State is back up at No. 2 after beating Rutgers 49-7. We can stop worrying about whether the Buckeyes have what it takes to make the College Football Playoff.
Job openings. With Golden and O’Leary gone, there are now seven open FBS jobs. Check out all of the latest coaching search news here.
Rankings! Ohio State and Baylor are still one and two, but Clemson jumped LSU and TCU to get to No. 3 in the AP poll. The Tigers are sixth in the Coaches poll, behind the four aforementioned teams and Michigan State.

Bowl projections! Stanford to the Playoff? Stanford to the Playoff. Along with No. 1 Clemson, No. 2 Alabama and No. 4 Ohio State.
Making the jump? NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport named Kevin Sumlin, Brian Kelly and Jim Mora as three college coaches that could potentially make the jump to the NFL after the season.
New Clemsoning. Clemson’s domination of Miami was impressive, but it was nothing new. This Clemson team is elite.
GameDay obstacles. ESPN has yet to announce where College GameDay is heading this week, though it should be Washington State or Temple. CougCenter looks at what the holdup might be.
Bad defense. Two weeks ago, Kentucky tried the “eight men on the field” formation. Somehow, this formation against Mississippi State was even worse.
Quit Twitter. Florida State’s football account tweeted that it was shutting its phone off after losing to Georgia Tech. Whoever tweeted that wasn’t kidding.
Brotherly love. The Georgia Tech player who returned the blocked Florida State kick for a touchdown crossed the goal line next to his twin brother. Awww.
Offensive offense. Florida State’s offense has been underwhelming all year, with the exception of Dalvin Cook. It was very underwhelming against Georgia Tech.
Rocky relationship. Quarterback Kyler Murray didn’t play for Texas A&M against Ole Miss. Is Murray in coach Kevin Sumlin’s doghouse?
