Everything you need to know about Georgia Tech’s ‘Miracle on Techwood Drive’

In case you missed anything about it, here’s everything.

Jason Getz-USA TODAY Sports

Florida State had not lost an ACC game in 1,113 days before losing to Georgia Tech on a miraculous blocked kick returned for a touchdown. Here’s the play from every angle, dubbed the “Miracle on Techwood Drive.”

The full radio call was incredible: “YOU GOTTA BE KIDDING ME! WOOOOO!”

The on-field reactions were priceless. Georgia Tech coach Paul Johnson made the least Paul Johnson face ever after the win ... right after initially telling his players not to return the block.

Then there is this picture, which is everything great about college football.

Making this story even greater, Georgia Tech hero Lance Austin crossed the goal line next to his twin brother, Lawrence. From the Atlanta Journal-Constitution:

As Austin approached the goal line, he was joined by his twin brother, also in on the play, and they crossed into the end zone together, sending Bobby Dodd Stadium into joyful bedlam.

“He said, ‘Grandma’s looking down on us, and you did it for her,’” Lance Austin said. “And I did.”

Here’s the moment Lawrence grabs Lance to celebrate:

Georgia Tech athletics sat down with the brothers and has video of them crossing the goal line together.

Making the day even better for the Austin brothers, Lawrence tipped a pass that led to Florida State’s first offensive turnover of the season.

Georgia Tech has had a rough season, losing five straight games heading into the win over Florida State, but this sure is a resilient group.

Ironically, special teams blunders had contributed to Georgia Tech’s woes earlier this season.

After the Alabama-Auburn Kick Six in 2013, Florida State said it practiced for this exact scenario.

Kicker Roberto Aguayo said the scene was "confusing," since players on both teams thought the play was dead. Johnson, who first waved his players off, explained to ESPN that after FSU didn't cover the kick, the mind set turned to "run, run, run."

Whoever runs Florida State’s Twitter account apparently wasn’t kidding.

Florida State’s offense has struggled at times this season, and ultimately, its lack of production led to FSU even being in need of a game-winning field goal in the first place.

The FSU defense couldn’t get off the field, and even though younger players stepped up, they couldn’t step on their opponent’s throat.

Bud Elliott podcasted his instant reaction from the game for Tomahawk Nation.

Here’s what Florida State coach Jimbo Fisher had to say after the loss.

FSU dropped to No. 15 in the Coaches poll and No. 17 in the AP poll.
