Notre Dame-Clemson has College GameDay this week, and it’s no surprise -- this one is likely a College Football Playoff elimination game. One loss might not doom any team, particularly if it’s a loss to a top team, but the loser of this game will have no margin for error.
How to watch Notre Dame vs. Clemson on TV or online, plus 3 things to know
This one has major Playoff implications.
Notre Dame really shouldn’t be a Playoff contender at this point, given its injuries. The Irish are without quarterback Malik Zaire and running back Tarean Folston, along with a handful of other injured players. But that hasn’t stopped them. DeShone Kizer has stepped in at quarterback and not missed a beat for the offense, while Will Fuller has continued to look like the best receiver in the country and C.J. Prosise has looked like a breakout star at running back.
Meanwhile, Clemson is still one of the favorites in the ACC. However, the Tigers haven’t been overly impressive this year, with a narrow win over 1-3 Louisville and blowout wins over Appalachian State and Wofford. Deshaun Watson has been impressive at quarterback, but what will happen against a top-shelf Notre Dame defense that dominated Georgia Tech and Texas?
This game will vault one team up the polls and drop another.

Three big things to know
1. This will be Kizer’s first big road test. How can he stack up? If he keeps playing like he has, Notre Dame has to be the favorite, but this is a different set of circumstances than he’s seen before.
2. The big matchup here is the Notre Dame defense against Watson. Can the Irish shut him down? Jaylon Smith might be the best linebacker in the nation, and he’ll match up against Watson after helping to shut down the impressive Georgia Tech rushing attack.
3. Playoff implications! The winner might become a favorite to make the group of four. The loser is all but out of the chase.
