Uh oh, Auburn. After a near-loss to Jacksonville State and an embarrassing loss to LSU, Auburn fell at home to Mississippi State to drop to 2-2 on the season. The Tigers went from a potential College Football Playoff contender to just hoping to make a bowl game. The offense is all out of sorts, even after the quarterback switch from Jeremy Johnson to Sean White, and the defense has yet to improve much under Will Muschamp.
How to watch San Jose State vs Auburn on TV or online, plus 3 things to know
Can Auburn bounce back?
How did Auburn get this bad? There are a lot of reasons, but the short answer is that we assumed many pieces to the puzzle were sure things, even though they weren’t.
All that said, Auburn should at least beat San Jose State, right? Right!?
Well, the Tigers SHOULD beat the Spartans. SJSU is 2-2, with losses to Oregon State and Air Force, and a win over Fresno State. This isn’t an impressive team, and Auburn certainly has more talent. But can the Tigers utilize their talent? A loss to San Jose State would be a disaster and really hurt Auburn’s chances to go bowling.

Three big things to know
1. Things are bad in Auburn. Really bad. What would happen if the Tigers lose this game? The answer is clearly not to fire everyone, but the natives sure would get restless if Auburn can’t bounce back here.
2. White has the reigns at quarterback now. He was unimpressive in his first game as a starter against Mississippi State, but this will be a good game for him to gain confidence as a passer. That will be needed heading into the final six games of SEC play.
3. Right now, the Auburn defense is best known as the unit that was trampled by Leonard Fournette. Muschamp hasn’t worked his magic on this group yet, and the SJSU offense can be explosive. The Tigers can’t let this one get out of hand.
