After years of being an afterthought, Temple finally has its moment in the sun. The Owls will host ESPN’s College GameDay this week as they host Notre Dame, and they have the chance to prove whether they’re ready for the big time.
How to watch Notre Dame vs. Temple on TV or online, plus 3 things to know
Can Temple’s dream season continue, or will Notre Dame assert itself?
Temple got a lot of attention for dominating Penn State — recording 10 sacks in the process — in the season opener, and the Owls have gone undefeated since. That schedule has included a decent win over Cincinnati, but the rest of the schedule has been pretty weak. Now, things get tough, with this game against Notre Dame and a game against Memphis later in the year, so we’re about to learn just how good this Temple team really is. Are the Owls above average, top 25 worthy, or possibly better than anyone had imagined?
Notre Dame has lost some of its fanfare since losing lose at Clemson, but the Irish are still very impressive, despite being without starting quarterback Malik Zaire and running back Tarean Folston, plus many other starters. The offense has rolled in recent weeks, and the defense has plenty of playmakers. If Notre Dame can get through this game, the Irish could face Stanford in a potential College Football Playoff play-in game.
One team needs this win to stay alive in the national picture and the other needs a win to get into the national picture. It should be very intriguing.

Three big things to know
1. Temple’s strength is its defense. The last time Notre Dame faced a top defense, against Clemson, it was flustered for much of the game before finally finding its footing. Will it be better in this game?
2. What can Temple do against the talented Notre Dame defense? It has to be better than when it struggled against East Carolina and UCF.
3. It’s GameDay at Temple! Regardless of what happens in the game, that’s an achievement. Enjoy it, Owls fans.
