No. 19 UCLA went above and beyond with its salute to the troops in 2015. Instead of an American flag, the Bruins will be wearing the U.S. Navy SEALs’ iconic bone frog logo on their helmets for Saturday’s game against Washington State.
UCLA is honoring the Navy SEALs with a badass Frogman helmet decal
UCLA will honor the U.S. Navy SEALs like no other team has ever done.
Here’s what it will look like:

— UCLA Athletics (@UCLAAthletics) November 13, 2015 This isn’t the first time that the Bruins and Navy SEALs have teamed up. Their “long-standing relationship” also includes preseason training sessions that put UCLA’s football players through SEAL workouts prior to the 2013 and 2014 seasons. Wearing the emblem, which is traditionally reserved for members of the elite military unit, is a pretty big honor for the team.
The logo is a unique way to honor America’s soldiers that goes a step further than a typical stars and stripes design. Not only is the bone frog badass, it’s also a specific way to say thanks to the military unit that has helped prepare this team in the past. It will also help raise the SEALs public profile on Saturday as well, especially when Google gets a few thousand hits for “scary frog helmet.”
