Trevone Boykin leaves TCU game with apparent ankle injury

Worst case scenario for the Horned Frogs is here.

Rob Ferguson-USA TODAY Sports

TCU quarterback Trevone Boykin has left their game against Kansas with an apparent ankle injury. The Horned Frogs' miserable injury luck this year seems to have finally found their most important player, one they really cannot afford to lose for any length of time. Boykin was able to walk to the locker room under his own power, but was walking with a pronounced limp.

He's been replaced by backup Bram Kohlhausen, who is 9-of-13 for 135 yards and a touchdown so far this season.

Boykin has been arguably the best player in the country so far this year, throwing for 3,373 yards and 29 touchdowns while also rushing for eight scores. The Frogs lost a number of important starters to injury earlier in the year, and appeared to lose star receiver Josh Doctson with a wrist injury last week. Doctson is actually playing against Kansas, but his wrist is heavily wrapped.

Update: It sounds like Boykin is done for the day.
