Jim Harbaugh crushed a buckeye with a hammer on Bo Schembechler’s grave

Nothing says ‘rivalry’ like walking around a cemetery in the dark with a hammer and some nuts.

Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh, a Michigan Man through and through, attended the annual “cemetery walk” before this week’s Ohio State game. While the cemetery walk has been a longtime tradition, Harbaugh made a bit of history by joining in.

The walk travels past the graves of legendary Michigan coaches Fielding Yost and Bo Schembechler, as well as former Michigan radio broadcaster Bob Ufer. Harbaugh spoke at the grave of Schembechler, his coach at Michigan in the 1980s.

And then Harbaugh fully embraced the rivalry, busted out a yellow hammer, and smashed a buckeye nut on Schembechler’s grave.

Harbaugh crushing nuts with hammers in cemeteries is the most metal thing that a Michigan football coach has done since the entire Gary Moeller era.
