Iowa is sitting at 11-0 and looking for its first undefeated regular season in school history. The Hawkeyes beat Purdue last week to wrap up the Big Ten West and if they beat Nebraska then top the Big Ten East winner in the Big Ten Championship Game next week, they’ll be selected for the College Football Playoff. That’s truly incredible considering where this program was just a year ago after losing to the Huskers.
How to watch Iowa vs. Nebraska on TV or online, plus 3 things to know
It’s a massive game in the Heartland.
Nebraska is in an even worse place than it was a year ago despite firing coach Bo Pelini after yet another 9-3 season. The Huskers need to beat the undefeated Hawkeyes to get to .500 on the season and other than a win over Michigan State, this season has been a major disappointment with losses to Purdue, Illinois and Miami.
Nebraska has talent and the Huskers have shown flashes of potential this year, but they’ve been far too inconsistent. Now they’re facing an Iowa team that has been incredibly consistent this year. The Hawkeyes rarely turn the ball over, while Nebraska is incredibly turnover-prone, and the Iowa passing game has the potential to wreak havoc on a struggling Husker secondary. Can Nebraska take advantage of an Iowa defense that has struggled a bit in recent weeks? That could decide this game.

Three big things to know
1. Iowa has already clinched the Big Ten West and a trip to Indianapolis. But winning at Nebraska is still very important for this program as it looks to earn a trip to the College Football Playoff.
2. The “Heroes Game” rivalry between these two teams hasn’t really turned into a big rivalry since Nebraska joined the Big Ten. But with Iowa having the chance to clinch an undefeated season and send Nebraska to 5-7 on the Huskers’ own turf and Nebraska having a chance to end Iowa’s perfect season, it could finally reach that point.
3. Nebraska still might make a bowl game if it goes 5-7. The Huskers are in better position to do so than most 5-7 teams.
