This was billed as the Big 12’s game of the season after pitting the conference’s top two teams last season, so it’s no surprise that the Big 12 scheduled this one for Thanksgiving weekend. But as it turns out, neither of these teams controls its destiny to win the conference title, and TCU doesn’t even have a chance to win it.
Baylor vs. TCU: Time, live stream, TV schedule and 3 things to know
This is the Texas battle we’ve been looking forward to all season.
That said, this is still a big game for bowl positioning. Baylor can still win the Big 12 if Oklahoma loses to Oklahoma State in Bedlam, and the Bears have a lot to play for in their quest for a New Year’s Six bowl. Despite losing backup quarterback Jarett Stidham to injury, the Bears never looked back against Oklahoma State in Stillwater, riding third-string quarterback Chris Johnson to 700 total yards of offense. Regardless of who plays quarterback, Baylor is going to be good.
TCU’s injury-filled season has gotten even worse, with quarterback Trevone Boykin and wide receiver Josh Doctson out against Oklahoma. The Horned Frogs still nearly won against the Sooners, and they have a chance to beat the Bears regardless of which stars are available, but this hasn’t been the season that TCU fans had hoped for. Still, if the Horned Frogs beat Baylor, they’ll be back in the discussion for a New Year’s Six bowl.

Three big things to know
1. Who will play at quarterback for Baylor? Will it be Jarrett Stidham or Chris Johnson? It’s probably not going to matter, since the Bears’ offense has been firing on all cylinders regardless of who plays quarterback, but it’s worth watching.
2. The injury question is similar for TCU. Is Trevone Boykin going to be okay? If not, the Horned Frogs could drop a disappointing third game on the year.
3. Neither team considers this a rivalry, but they hate each other. The atmosphere should be electric.
