Hi, Chip! Chip Kelly's Eagles are in bad shape after losing their second straight blowout (really, really bad shape), so here are some potentially interesting college vacancies for him. For uh, you know, no reason. And those job recommendations were made before a couple of other big schools seemed likely to join the list.
Chip Kelly, you’ll always have a home in college football
Good morning. It’s your daily roundup of college football links and fun!

GUNS UP. Texas Tech beat Texas 48-45, the first time the Red Raiders beat the Longhorns since 2008 and the first in Austin since 1997. That's one year before head coach Kliff Kingsbury arrived in Lubbock as a player. Let an immaculate Texas Tech touchdown wake you up from your Thanksgiving food coma.
Not to be outdone, the Red Raiders basically sealed the game by hiding their smallest player behind their biggest ones.
The Red Raiders finish 7-5, while the Longhorns drop to 4-7. Texas still has an outside shot of making a bowl game if it can somehow beat Baylor.
UCF finishes 0-12 after losing to South Florida, 44-3, and giving us the saddest fans of all time. That means one Orlando bar went the whole season giving out free beer.
There was one bright spot. UCF receiver Tre’Quan Smith nearly flipped a full 360 degrees but still held on for a sweet catch.
HELLO, RIVALRY WEEK. Here’s the full schedule for the weekend to come.
Friday’s biggest games:
- Navy at Houston decides the American West and the New Year's non-power favorite.
- Nebraska fans are feeling optimistic about the Huskers' chances of knocking off undefeated Iowa. Corn Nation and Black Heart Gold Pants previewed the matchup. Hawkeye fans are predicting 12-0.
- Here's a Baylor vs. TCU hype video. Maybe this year they'll admit it's a rivalry? The numbers like the Bears.
- The numbers also like Oregon to obliterate Oregon State.
- No. 20 Washington State plays 5-6 Washington in the Apple Cup, and the stats like the Huskies. The Cougars could still somehow make the Rose Bowl, but they need a win.
As for Saturday ...
- Alligator Army and Tomahawk Nation preview the huge Florida vs. Florida State matchup.
- Saturday’s winner between Notre Dame and Stanford will be positioned well for the Playoff.
- Maize n’ Brew examined the state of Ohio State vs. Michigan, a rivalry game that is actually important this year for the first time in a while. The game also got the Taiwanese animation treatment, if you’re into that.
- Bedlam might be the biggest game of the weekend. One huge key: Oklahoma State’s running game.
- Reasonable to say Michigan State’s defense is back. Can Penn State do anything on offense?
GAMBLING PICKS. Pick Oklahoma and Stanford, plus 14 others.
In case your Turkey Bowl is a non-Thursday event. Mike Leach drew up a play just for you.
