Nebraska DB Nate Gerry ejected for targeting on this play against Iowa

Just before halftime, the Cornhusker made his way to the locker room.

Nebraska will be without leading tackler Nate Gerry for the rest of Friday, after he was ejected in the second quarter for targeting following a helmet-to-helmet hit on Iowa receiver Tevaun Smith. The Hawkeyes are eyeing a 12-0 record with a win over Nebraska, and will have to capitalize on Gerry’s absence to get there.

The Hawkeyes led 14-7 and were going for third-and-6 when Gerry went low and connected with Smith’s helmet. Iowa got the first down with the penalty, but eventually punted.

Smith was able to get up and walk off the field after a few minutes of medical attention.
