Lane Kiffin explains broken toe, Internet scoffs

Alabama’s offensive coordinator says his daughter broke his toe while dancing to Lynyrd Skynyrd.

Lane Kiffin is coaching while sitting down Saturday, and CBS commentator Gary Danielson has the story straight from the man himself:

I noticed Lane Kiffin was limping out here, and I got the story of what happened, okay? Lane was home for Thanksgiving dinner, and [his daughter], to the music of “Sweet Home Alabama,” jumped off the chair...jumped on his toe and broke his toe.

He told me he had to get shot up to do the game.

CBS also gave us an up-close shot of the toe in question:

Like all things ever said by Lane Kiffin, the Internet took this story with a healthy dose of skepticism.

Others focused on the second part of Danielson’s telling of the story, the part where Kiffin is coaching Alabama’s offense while on pain medication.

Kiffin has a history of coaching hurt. He coached USC in the 2012 Sun Bowl while hiding a cut on his face by dressing up like the Unabomber.
