Sometimes in football, there's a hit so violent that it goes beyond the physical properties of the equipment. The unlucky party in this case was Oklahoma kick returner Alex Ross, who got hit so hard that something on Oklahoma State's Devante Averette's helmet broke.

It’s hard to tell whether that’s part of a visor or paint chips flying off, but something was flying off Averette’s helmet in lots of little pieces. The cold temperatures in Stillwater, currently around freezing, could certainly make things more brittle than usual, but damn. This is a violent game.
