University of Miami president weighs in on Duke controversy by noting the scoreboard
University of Miami President Julio Frenk has weighed in on the Miami-Duke debate. Unsurprisingly, he backs the Hurricanes.

Frenk penned an open letter to the Hurricane community to showcase his pride in the university’s athletes. He also made it a point to grin in Duke’s general direction, point a lone finger to the horizon, and softly whisper “scoreboard.” Here’s the money quote from his release.
In the aftermath of the controversy related to the officiating of the game against Duke, I wish to express my disappointment with statements that question the legitimacy of our victory. Let me be clear: Both teams fought hard and at the highest levels of competition, and in the end the University of Miami won.
Frenk’s letter comes after reports surfaced that the football program was telling season ticket holders and supporters that the ACC had acknowledged “multiple incorrect calls” earlier in the game that had gone against the Hurricanes. Miami had 18 more penalties than the Blue Devils that evening. That includes three pass interference calls on what Duke fans had assumed was the team’s game-winning drive late in the fourth quarter.
Miami Athletic Director Blake James took a similar approach to the game’s outcome as his boss in a letter released Thursday.
The eight-lateral, touchdown play which won the game will forever be cemented in college football lore and in our storied history. The fact that the ACC publicly acknowledged officiating errors on the play does not, in any way, take away our victory or our incredible spirit
In case you missed that “eight-lateral, touchdown play” (and it would be difficult to, seeing as it’s currently the first thing you see on the official University of Miami Athletics website), here’s what will most likely go down as the greatest play of 2015:
