An Amtrak train collided with a dump truck in Bessemer, Ala. Friday. Train passengers included LSU fans on their way to Tuscaloosa for the game against Alabama. There have been no reports of injured train passengers, but the driver of the truck was reportedly killed.

WIAT42 is reporting the wreck happened at the railroad crossing at 32nd Street and Carolina Avenue. Bessemer police told WIAT42 that the crossing bars were down, and are investigating if the dump truck driver was trying to beat the train.

WIAT42 is reporting the fans are from Baton Rouge and Prairieville; some may have exited the train in Tuscaloosa, but about 50 were still on the train at the time of the accident.
Amtrak has confirmed there was an accident south of Birmingham, but couldn’t give any additional details.
