With a win over Ole Miss under its belt and an undefeated record that could give it a small chance at making the College Football Playoff, Memphis gets set to take on the meat of its schedule, starting with this game against Navy. That game against Ole Miss has made the Tigers this year’s Cinderella, and they’re fun to watch, with a high-flying offense led by star quarterback Paxton Lynch. This might be the best “underdog” in the country this year, but it will have its hands full with another top underdog.
Navy vs. Memphis 2015: Start time, live stream, TV schedule and 3 things to know
Can Memphis keep its strong start going?
This is Navy’s first year in The American, but the Midshipmen are still in position to win the conference. They’re undefeated in conference games, with their lone overall loss coming at Notre Dame. And even though they aren’t getting the attention of Memphis or Houston, they’re dangerous, particularly on offense. Now comes a big challenge: beat a top team.
This could be a tough matchup for both teams defensively. Memphis has had defensive issues all season, and the Tigers have given up at least 40 points to Bowling Green, Cincinnati and Tulsa. The Navy option attack could present difficulties. That said, Navy doesn’t have a great defense, either, and the Memphis offense shows no signs of slowing down. This should be a fascinating display of offense between two high-level “underdogs.”

Three big things to know
1. How will the Memphis defense deal with Navy’s triple option attack? That’s a fair concern for a defense that has been inconsistent at best.
2. Memphis-Navy on prime time on ESPN2!? That’s what happens when one of the teams is in the Playoff race and the other is undefeated in the conference. The American has shown up this year.
3. Could this be the game everyone starts noticing Navy, win or lose? The Midshipmen have been good this season.
