Two weeks after a heartbreaking loss to Michigan State, No. 17 Michigan was on the other side of a heartbreaking result, hanging on with a goal line stand to beat Minnesota. That game was probably closer than it should have been, and the Wolverines certainly got unlucky with how well the Gophers’ passing game played. But a win is a win, and Michigan is now 6-2 with a great chance to get to 7-2 in Jim Harbaugh’s first season.
How to watch Rutgers vs. Michigan on TV or online, plus 3 things to know
Michigan hopes this game doesn’t come down to the wire like its last two games.

Why a great chance to get to to 7-2? Because Rutgers has turned into a bit of a disaster. The Scarlet Knights looked like they were on the right path after staging a 26-point road comeback effort to beat Indiana. But in the past two games, Rutgers has been blown out by both Ohio State and Wisconsin, with virtually no redeemable performances on either side of the ball. Things don’t get any easier against a stout Michigan defense that has the ability to shut down this struggling offense.
Can Michigan improve on last week? The Wolverines have been media darlings this year, but the game against Minnesota was the defense’s worst in a long time (though, yes, many of Minnesota’s big pass completions were lucky). Rutgers is a good team to get to make corrections against.

Three big things to know
1. How healthy will Jake Rudock be? The Michigan quarterback is supposed to play after sustaining a big hit against Minnesota, but can he be himself?
2. Can Rutgers bounce back after two blowout losses in a row? That will be tough to do against Michigan, and this is brutal stretch, but luckily, this is the toughest game remaining.
3. Is Rutgers coach Kyle Flood coaching for his job this season? Avoiding a third straight blowout loss would help his case.
