At the beginning of the season, this game looked like it had the potential to be a laugher, with one team fighting for relevance and another trying to regain relevance under a brand new coach. But all that changed when it turned out that Florida is actually really good.
Vanderbilt vs. Florida 2015: Start time, live stream, TV schedule and 3 things to know
With a win, the Gators clinch a spot in the SEC Championship.
The No. 10 Gators had some close calls early, but after a blowout win over Ole Miss, it was clear that this team could contend. Even after losing quarterback Will Grier to a year-long banned substance suspension, Florida has looked the part. Jim McElwain’s team lost a close one to No. 2 LSU in Death Valley and dominated Georgia to all but win the SEC East. The defense is one of the country’s best, and the offense is better than anyone could have anticipated. All of that has added up to the No. 10 spot in the rankings.
Vanderbilt hasn’t had such an easy climb under coach Derek Mason, who is in his second season with the Commodores. Vandy is certainly better than it was last year, when it went winless in the SEC, and it already has a win over Mizzou, plus a solid win over Middle Tennessee. The defense is good, but the offense has been awful, getting blanked by Houston in a 34-0 loss last week. Bottom line: Unless the Commodores play their best game of the year, this could get ugly.

Three big things to know
1. Will Vanderbilt’s offense be able to do anything against this stout Florida defense. Getting shut out two weeks in a row would be ... not good.
2. Can quarterback Treon Harris keep improving for Florida? He played well against Georgia, and Vanderbilt will be a good test, but nothing too difficult.
3. Florida is ranked No. 10 in the initial College Football Playoff poll. Time to get some style points.
