Northwest Missouri State will play Shepherd in Division II National Championship
The Bearcats are back for the second time in three years.

Northwest Missouri State got back to the title game with a 38-23 win over West Georgia. The Bearcats have won every playoff game this year by at least 15 points, and they’ve outscored opponents by an average of 41.9-12.7, en route to an undefeated, 14-0 season. They’re 2-0 in their last two trips, winning the national title in both 2009 and 2013. They beat Lenoir-Rhyne, 43-28, in 2013, and Grand Valley State, 30-23, in 2009.
Shepherd has never won, or even been to the Division II title game. However, the Rams are off to the biggest game in D-II football after taking down perennial power Grand Valley State, 34-32. Shepherd trailed by three after the fourth quarter, but the Rams rode a big, 20-point fourth quarter to a win. That caps a 13-0 season, in which Shepherd outscored its opponents by an average score of 39.8-17.7.
The game will be played on Dec. 19 at 4 p.m. ET and broadcast by ESPN2. It can also be watched online on WatchESPN. Here’s a look at the full bracket, from NCAA.com.
