Oklahoma vs. Clemson, 2015 Orange Bowl odds: Sooners betting favorite vs. Tigers

The Oklahoma Sooners and Clemson Tigers clash in the Orange Bowl in the first semifinal game of the 2015 College Football Playoff this Thursday.

The Oklahoma Sooners are 8-2 straight up and 7-3 against the spread in their last 10 games against opponents from the Atlantic Coast Conference. The Sooners hope to continue that success in their College Football Playoff semifinal matchup against the Clemson Tigers this Thursday night.

Oklahoma is a 3.5-point betting favorite in the Orange Bowl according to sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. The betting underdog is 6-2 SU and ATS in the last eight Orange Bowl games.

After suffering a surprising 24-17 loss to the Texas Longhorns as a 16.5-point favorite, the Oklahoma Sooners were quick to prove that that game was a fluke and that the Sooners were clearly the best team in the Big 12.

Oklahoma went 7-0 SU and 6-1 ATS over its last seven games, piling up 51.9 points per game over that stretch behind the excellent play of quarterback Baker Mayfield. A 58-23 win on the road against Oklahoma State locked up the Big 12 title and a spot in the playoff for the Sooners.

In four games as a single-digit favorite this year, the Sooners were 4-0 SU and ATS per the OddsShark College Football Database.

Tigers vs. Sooners OddsShark Matchup Report

The Clemson Tigers were the only team in college football to avoid any slips all season long, completing a 13-0 SU season with a 45-37 win over North Carolina in the ACC Championship Game.

Clemson started the season off with a 5-3 ATS record, but went just 1-4 ATS down the stretch in failing to cover four double-digit spreads as a big favorite. This will be the first time Clemson has been an underdog since the Tigers crushed the Sooners 40-6 as a 6.5-point underdog in the Florida Citrus Bowl last year.

Thursday night’s total is set at 64 points. The OVER is 6-1 in Oklahoma’s last six games and 7-2 in Clemson’s last nine games.

Whichever team wins this game is going to give Alabama or Michigan State's defense a very tough challenge in the Championship Game. This one is a very even matchup that could go either way, but going on the eye test, the Sooners look like the team to beat this season. Take Oklahoma as a 3.5-point favorite in the Orange Bowl.
