COLLEGE FOOTBALL GAMBLING: Bet on Clemson and Michigan State in conference title week

It’s time to pick only the best wagers from the weekend schedule. This is our college football gambling column. It’s called COLLEGE FOOTBALL GAMBLING.

Joshua S. Kelly-USA TODAY Sports

147-137 Overall (52 percent) | Week 13

November was rough for me. Let’s see if I can get back on track with a limited slate before bowl season. Only four picks this week, with a lighter Saturday schedule.

1. West Virginia -6 at Kansas State: I’m surprised West Virginia is laying more than a field goal here and am riding with the Mountaineers, on the logic that Vegas knows something I don’t. The Mountaineers have rushed for an average of 300 yards in their last four conference games. Keeping the ball on the ground has been the solution to overcoming a lackluster passing game.

2. North Carolina v. Clemson -4.5: I faded Clemson last week, figuring the Tigers would be looking ahead to this ACC Championship. North Carolina is a good team, but it’s yet to face anyone close to Clemson’s caliber. I do think North Carolina has an excellent offensive line, but it has yet to face even a good defensive line, and Clemson has some playmakers up front.

3. Michigan State -3 v. Iowa: Michigan State can throw on Iowa better than anyone the Hawkeyes have faced all year. SB Nation’s Bill Connelly discussed how Iowa can be defeated with the pass and how Michigan State is a good passing team in this fantastic article. Is there a college quarterback you’d rather have in a big game than Connor Cook?

4. Texas +21 at Baylor: Texas has not quit on Charlie Strong, which is a positive sign, and teams have been able to run on the Bears for much of the year. Iowa State, Kansas State and Oklahoma all ran for 230 or more yards on Baylor, and with QB Tyrone Swoopes, I look for the Horns to slow the game down and keep it within three scores.
