2015’s best ‘College GameDay’ signs didn’t try too hard, or at all

An ode to understatement.

ESPN College GameDay is in Indianapolis for the Big Ten Championship, and while the signs might be a little more sparse than usual, a diamond stands above the rough. And as with nearly all good signs this year, less was more.

This one was also fine, and also possibly related to Iowa fans drinking Indianapolis dry on Friday night.

As with most jokework, trying too hard is a great way to make a bad sign. And a lot of people tried too hard this year. The best ones that really elicited actual chuckles were understated works of comedy. Let’s take this moment to celebrate the triumph of easy effort.

We thank the lad who camped out in horrible weather at Notre Dame-Clemson for bringing us Notre Lame.

James Madison might have had the best crop of signs of the year, topped by Crying Jordan spider and “Richmond farted”.

That’s it. Those are the only good signs this year. Congratulations to our winners, and let’s all do better next year.
