DR. LOU IS OUT. Lou Holtz, the former national championship head coach at Notre Dame, is leaving ESPN after 10 years’ worth of Saturdays.

“Lou enjoyed his time and friendships made at ESPN and looks forward to other opportunities in college football,” Holtz’s agent Sandy Montag said via Sports Illustrated.
Holtz’s departure from ESPN means even more change for Saturday College Football Final. The show was already set for significant change with Rece Davis leaving to take over hosting duties of College GameDay. Now with Holtz also leaving, only Mark May remains of the longtime trio.

Elsewhere:
- Florida State’s freshmen shined in the Seminoles’ spring game, a convenient development for a team with a ton of recruits on the sideline.
- The quarterbacks were in the spotlight at Oklahoma, while the wide receivers looked good at Maryland.
- Ole Miss’ offense is still a big question, but, hey, the defensive backs looked great.
- No offensive questions at USC. Max Browne and company put on a show.
- At Florida, under the direction of Jim McElwain, the Gators still have a long way to go toward improving their offense.
- And Texas A&M didn’t have a spring game this year, so Good Bull Hunting made one up.

- The biggest win came out of Minnesota, where Jerry Kill took a four-star legacy offensive lineman from Iowa.
- Washington State got its quarterback of the future in three-star Ian Book.
- Arkansas picked up four-star, top 100 defensive tackle prospect Briston Guidry.
- Four-star tight end Kaden Smith declared Stanford #TightEndU while picking the Cardinal.
