New North Carolina football uniforms feature argyle

Bold choice, Tar Heels.

Carolina Athletics

North Carolina released new uniforms across all sports Monday and wait ... is that argyle?

ENHANCE:

That is argyle!

The other white and black versions of the Tar Heels’ uniforms will also feature argyle, both at the collar and along the pants.

Argyle’s not the only change here -- more from Tim Newcomb at Sports Illustrated.

As part of the updated identity that debuts this fall, the school will have consistent colors, logos, lettering and numerals across all the sports. The interlocking NC logo, which dates back to the 1800s, gets a full update that includes retooling it for size and scale. The argyle stands as the secondary identity for all sports. And don’t be surprised to see the foot logo pop up from time to time, too.Images via UNC Athletic Communications
