THE READ OPTION: The Big Ten wins spring football

Good morning! Here’s your morning roundup of everything that happened this weekend in college football.

Michigan State University

B1G owns the spring. Spring games are just about wrapped up, and it appears that Big Ten fans were most enthusiastic this year. The top three teams in spring attendance were all from the Big Ten, as were two more in the top eight.

  1. Ohio State, 99,391
  2. Nebraska, 76,881
  3. Penn State, 68,000
  4. Alabama, 65,175
  5. Tennessee, 63,016
  6. Auburn, 62,143
  7. Michigan, 60,000
  8. Michigan State, 48,000

This is the closest thing to actual competition going on in the sport this time of year, so yes, people care.

This weekend’s SPRING GAMES ROUNDUP.

That all pales next to Leah Still, who beat cancer and is the daughter of former Penn State lineman Devon Still, scoring a touchdown at Temple.

Best of the second best. Penn State fans haven’t gotten over the fact that they weren’t the national champions in 1994.The Nittany Lions can take solace in knowing they had the best snubbed team since 1980, according to this list of the top 25.

#FreeUAB. A UAB linebacker wore his helmet to graduation and got a rousing ovation when he walked by president Ray Watts, refusing to shake the president’s hand.

Harbaugh trolls the SEC. SEC coaches are mad about the Big Ten’s satellite camps, so Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh invited them to speak at those camps.

Fun in crootin'! Four-star running back Robert Washington committed to Florida in a taped interview with Bleacher Report. At the same time, he committed to Syracuse in a live ceremony.

Elsewhere in a busy recruiting weekend, four-star lineman BRODARIOUS HAMM committed to Tennessee. His name is BRODARIOUS HAMM.

Gary Pinkel now makes Kirk Ferentz money! Mizzou’s paying the two-time defending SEC East champ $4 million a year.

Tulane's climb. Tulane football raised the bar, and now the Green Wave are fighting to clear it. Bill C. previews New Orleans' team.

Pokes slapped! Sports Illustrated’s big takedown of Oklahoma State results in the hostess program being barred and other minor penalties.

Only thing that can stop Boise State? The Broncos, by far the favorite to lead the mid-major pack, suffered an arrest to their likeliest starting QB.

Don’t be creepy. Attn: college football coaches ... This is a bad idea.
