Baylor’s Bryce Petty was the first quarterback selected on Day 3 of the NFL Draft, falling to the Jets early in the fourth. For some reason, Texas director of player personnel Mike Giglio thought this was a good time to talk trash, writing the following and including a photo of Petty’s profile on TV.
Texas assistant takes swipe at Baylor after draft pick
The Longhorns’ recent track record hasn’t exactly been something to write home about.

Not much teaching going on up there huh? @McShay13 said he identified fronts in HS! Come to ATX & learn to be a pro! pic.twitter.com/w7cIuiz2Dw
— Mike Giglio (@MikeMGiglio) May 2, 2015 Texas has not had a quarterback drafted since 2010, when Colt McCoy was selected in the third round. With the Longhorns’ current offensive struggles, it’s likely going to be a while before that streak is broken, even considering the Charlie Strong staff’s history with Teddy Bridgewater. So this probably wasn’t a great idea.
Baylor has won four of the last five meetings, including the last two by a combined 58-17. Texas seems to really, really not like this.
