Wisconsin’s JJ Watt has fun leveling man in Bama shirt

Good morning! It’s your morning roundup of college football stuff.

Yes, we know it was staged. A guy “rushed” the stage at a Zac Brown Band show, and JJ Watt and no other security people were there to clean the dude out and then pose menacingly over his battered body.

Watt, who went to Wisconsin, hit a guy wearing an Alabama shirt at a show in Milwaukee. Wisconsin opens the season against Alabama. Connect the dots, people.

Bad news, everyone. College football fans tend not to like neutral-site games. The sport is filled with incredible, old stadiums that drip with tradition, and it’s increasingly common for decent non-conference matchups to be played in NFL stadiums. Unfortunately, those games are going to happen more and more often.

By now, we should be used to money being the real power in sports. It’s still discouraging.

They’ll certainly try. Kansas has had a rough go of it lately, and as Bill Connelly takes stock of the Jayhawks’ chances for 2015, they will ... continue to have a rough go of it.

Two of KU's top three runners are gone, as are all six players who were targeted at least 10 times. The leading returning receiver, tight end Ben Johnson, has eight career catches. None of the returnees could crack a pretty bad rotation last year. And the status of starting quarterback Michael Cummings after a scary knee injury in the spring game is not optimistic.

Yikes.

Asking a lawyer about the case of the Ole Miss star who punched his stepfather, allegedly in defense of his mother. What does the law allow in defense of someone else?

Gross. Former four-star defensive lineman Trey Lealaimatafao was dismissed from the LSU football team on Monday. He was arrested two weeks ago for allegedly punching a woman outside a bar. More details:

A redshirt freshman from Texas, Lealaimatafao dug through the pockets of an unconscious man and then punched the man’s girlfriend in the face with a closed fist in the parking lot of [Baton Rouge bar] Reggie’s, police records show. Three eyewitnesses told police that the football player fled the scene when authorities arrived.

Has Mark Richt regained control? Dawg Sports just jinxed Georgia’s entire offseason.

Loaded. Notre Dame’s front seven had to deal with injuries last year, but the outlook is bright with everyone coming back for 2015.

Huge! Asiantii Woulard, a former four-star quarterback prospect and Winter Park (Fla.) native, is transferring from UCLA back home to USF. Considering the Bulls' quarterback struggles, this is a massive get for Willie Taggart and the Bulls.

Speaking of transfers. Florida is thin at a number of positions, so Jim McElwain has been aggressively pursuing transfers.

Alabama favored in all but one game. The one game is at Georgia.

Nebraska’s taken up recruiting. Corn Nation marvels at the Huskers’ totally modernized recruiting efforts.
