Jimbo Fisher reportedly banned FSU players from bars. Good start?

Good morning! It’s your rundown of what happened in college football this weekend.

Melina Vastola-USA TODAY Sports

Troubles in Tallahassee. Florida State star running back Dalvin Cook faces a misdemeanor battery charge for allegedly punching a woman in the face. Cook was suspended indefinitely, just a few days after quarterback De’Andre Johnson was dismissed after video emerged of a similar incident.

In the summer of 2014, Cook was cited for having chained-up dogs and charged with criminal mischief for a BB gun battle, also being listed by police as “an associate” in an aggravated assault case.

Florida State coach Jimbo Fisher released a statement about both players’ incidents, saying, “We will do better. I will not tolerate anything less.” Fisher has reportedly made some changes, including banning his players from bars.

Too hyped? TCU is a popular pick to make the College Football Playoff, since the Horned Frogs return most of their players from an extremely successful team. However, Bill Connelly says the TCU bandwagon might be too crowded.

Crootin’. The Opening, Nike’s premier high school football event, was held this week in Beaverton, Oregon, so it was a big week for recruiting. A few highlights, with more coverage from the scene to come (follow Bud Elliott for more):

SEC Media Days starts today. Here’s the very short version of everything to know about it, and here’s the full schedule.

Life, full throttle. Former Oakland Raiders and Alabama quarterback Kenny Stabler passed away after leading one hell of a life. Roll Bama Roll looks back on that life.

Offense, Syracuse style. Syracuse had a very bad offense. Now we might be getting some clues as to why.

‘You can’t just use one (cadence). which is what we did. We had other ones, but we used one. We have to use them; you’re trained to do that.’

Offense, LSU style. And The Valley Shook on one way the Tigers can actually have a passing game.

Commitment music video ... for a kicker? A kicker committed to Penn State with a music video. What is the world coming to?
