Ohio State QBs are just about the whole college football news cycle right now

Good morning! It’s your daily roundup of college football stuff.

Greg Bartram-USA TODAY Sports

Penny pinching. Texas is the richest athletic department in the country. It made $161 million in revenue in 2014. It has its own dang TV network. But for some reason, it's decided to cut down on the free meals given to coaches in dining halls. This doesn't look good, and adds more evidence to the rumblings that people are not happy with how athletic director Steve Patterson is running things.

King Cardale. After being told by an Internet user to STICK TO SPORTS, Cardale Jones gave it to the guy so bad that he deleted his account. Cardale is the greatest, and we compiled his 13 greatest hits in one place for your enjoyment.

Speaking of Ohio State quarterbacks, Braxton Miller is moving after all ... to receiver. He could still see some snaps at quarterback, but he’ll be deployed mainly as an H-back, giving the Buckeyes a ton of options to get him the ball. His teammates highly approve of the move.

Should you, like Cardale's overconfident heckler, delete your Twitter account? Probably.

Who’ll actually start at QB for Ohio State? Land-Grant Holy Land made the case for J.T. Barrett. He didn’t make any news Thursday, but that’s fine.

Overlooked. It’s funny Stanford isn’t getting the same kind of preseason buzz as Ole Miss or USC or what have you, writes Bill Connelly.

No choice. Why did Steve Spurrier call a press conference to holler about South Carolina’s “enemies” telling tales about his retirement? Well, because he has to.

Uhhhh. Nebraska’s new alternate uniforms from Adidas might just be the shoe maker’s most bizarre yet.

Wisconsin loses four-star running back Jordan Stevenson due to academics, which is especially awkward considering UW’s standards were one reason former head coach Gary Andersen left for Oregon State.

But Wisconsin wins the EDSBS college drunk rankings.

Cleared. Former Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year Devonte Fields has been cleared to join the team at Louisville. The former TCU star was charged with misdemeanor assault for hitting his girlfriend, but the charge was dropped. He’s undeniably talented, but with several players making the news recently for hitting women, eyes will be on Fields.

New king. Ohio State, as expected, landed five-star defensive end Nick Bosa, younger brother of current Buckeye and shrug leader Joey Bosa. His commitment boosts Ohio State to the top of the 247Sports Composite rankings. Can they snap Alabama’s five-year streak with the top class?

And his commit means it’s time to update these predictions on where the top 10 uncommitted recruits are headed. USC gets the extra good news this time.

MEATCAKE. Thursday was Mike the Tiger's 10th birthday, and the good folks at LSU got him yet another MEATCAKE to mark the occasion. It's a cake, but it's made out of meat. Meatcake.
