Disturbing video shows Florida State QB punch woman in bar incident

The team has since dismissed the player.

The State Attorney's Office in Tallahassee, Fla., released surveillance video on Monday showing FSU quarterback De'Andre Johnson punching a female student at a bar a month ago. Johnson was already suspended indefinitely due to the accusations and was dismissed from the university later Monday night following the videos release.

The quarterback currently faces a misdemeanor battery charge in connection with the incident.

According to Tomahawk Nation and other media reports, the victim suffered multiple injuries to her face and was treated on the scene by medics. After an arrest warrant was issued, Johnson turned himself in before being released on a $500 bond.

Johnson, a Jacksonville product, was an early enrollee for the ‘Noles, arriving on campus this past January. He played in the defending ACC champs’ spring game, in which he threw two touchdowns. The 247Sports Composite rating graded Johnson as a three-star.

Florida State is currently seeking to replace former starting quarterback Jameis Winston, the No. 1 pick in the recent 2015 NFL Draft in April. Notre Dame transfer Everett Golson is expected to compete against Winston’s principal backup, Sean Maguire, for the position.
