USC head coach apologizes for apparent drunken behavior

This comes after reports and rumors of a wild Sark at the event.

USC coach Steve Sarkisian released an apology Sunday for “my behavior and my inappropriate language” at a booster event Saturday night. His full apology:

“I sincerely apologize to my players and staff and to our fans for my behavior and my inappropriate language at our kickoff event Saturday night. I have a responsibility to all of them and I let them down. Pat Haden talked to me after the event about my actions and I assured him this will not happen again.”

USC athletic director Pat Haden also apologized and said he met with Sarkisian and “expressed my disappointment” in his actions.

Sarkisian doesn’t actually say what his “behavior” was, but the apology was released after rumors surfaced that Sarkisian had been somewhat obscene at Saturday’s event. Pacific Takes reported that Sarkisian was drunk and dropped an f-bomb (the OC Register confirmed Sarkisian “appeared inebriated”), and tweets suggest that he said Oregon, Arizona State and Notre Dame “all suck.” This comes after Sarkisian took a jab at Oregon at Pac-12 Media Days.

This isn’t the first time Sarkisian has come under fire for remarks at a fan/booster rally. As coach at Washington, he made jabs at Cal, saying, “Every time I’d always see Cal getting these guys ... I’m like how is Cal ... the CAL BEARS! They haven’t been to the Rose Bowl in 188 years. Like, how are they getting anybody?”
