FSU’s new quarterback calls out ESPN SEC Network’s Paul Finebaum

Good morning! It’s your roundup of this weekend’s college football stuff.

SEC BIAS. Florida State fans and ESPN have a contentious relationship, particularly when it comes to issues concerning the SEC, and new Seminoles quarterback Everett Golson is catching on quick. After ESPN/SEC Network host Paul Finebaum said that FSU has “no business” being near the top 10, due in large part to Golson, the QB had some words for Finebaum.

Charges dropped. Star Ole Miss tackle Laremy Tunsil and his stepfather have agreed to drop assault charges against each other.

“Year, sure!” Last year, the Internet created the $5 Bits of Broken Chair Trophy for the Minnesota-Nebraska game. The Gophers won and hoisted the trophy in Lincoln, but will new Nebraska coach Mike Riley do the same if he wins it?

Uphill battle. Texas A&M has a ton of talent. But with a brutal schedule, could the Aggies miss out on a bowl game?

SWAG. Saturday was the first day teams could send out offer letters to recruits. There were a few typos and a few boring letters, and then there was Miami’s nightclub flyer with about a dozen fonts.

Pop pass. The run/pass option is college football’s most controversial innovation at the moment, and while it’s still legal, officials are watching it more closely.

The weekend Harbaugh!

  1. That time Michigan’s coach quarterbacked for Nebraska’s coach on a terrible San Diego Chargers team.
  2. Jim Harbaugh is so weird, he refers to Ohio State by its name.
  3. And this weekend was the weekend when Harbaugh retweeted Nicki Minaj.

The other team up North. Ohio State is heavily favored to win the Big Ten, but their toughest test will come from their new rival in Michigan ... Michigan State.

Bet the farm. To further prove you can bet on literally anything, one sports book is allowing fans to bet on who wins each of college football’s seven biggest quarterback battles, including Ohio State’s.

Sark takes a shot. USC coach Steve Sarkisian took a shot at Oregon, implying the Ducks are style over substance. Sarkisian is 0-5 against Oregon.

West Virginia in the SEC? Maybe could’ve happened, if Mizzou hadn’t gone.

Sun Belt realignment. The Sun Belt is looking for new members, and current FCS power Coastal Carolina could reportedly make the FBS jump.

Crootin’. Including the weekend’s blue-chip highlights:

“Tennessee is straight trash.” A Vanderbilt linebacker waged a one-man Twitter war against all of Volunteer nation because he was “bored.”
