There are two games this week between teams from Michigan and Oregon, and this is ... not the one people are particularly interested in. While Oregon-Michigan State is supposed to be the game of the week, Oregon State-Michigan is considered a relative yawner.
How to watch Oregon State vs. Michigan on TV or online, plus 3 things to know
Which offensively challenged team will score enough to win?
Both teams are breaking in new coaches after making arguably two of the best hires of the offseason, with Michigan adding Jim Harbaugh and Oregon State adding Gary Andersen. However, all rebuilds take time, and neither of these teams did much in week one to build their resumes. Michigan fell to Utah in an abysmal offensive performance, while Oregon State’s offense couldn’t do much of anything in a win against FCS Weber State.
There will be hype and fanfare surrounding this game, considering the Harbaugh factor, and it will be interesting to see how the offense evolves. But this weekend, this isn’t the go-to game in the state.
How to watch, stream and listen
TV: Noon ET, ABC
Radio: Michigan, Oregon State
Online streaming: WatchESPN
Three big things to know
1. HARBAUGH’S FIRST HOME GAME. People have been buzzing for this moment ever since he was hired, and the halls have been decked with boughs of khaki. Is there really anything else to say?
2. Michigan quarterback Jake Rudock threw six interceptions all year at Iowa last season. He threw three in the Wolverines’ first game against Utah. He needs to bounce back before there’s heat on Harbaugh to go with backup Shane Morris, who himself threw three picks in 40 attempts last season.
3. If Oregon State struggled with Weber State’s defense, it could have a lot of trouble with Michigan’s. Despite losing the game, the Wolverine defense held the Utah offense to 17 points, 337 total yards, and forced an awful 3-13 third down conversion rate. We could have a shutout watch if the Beavers aren’t careful.
