After disappointing seasons in 2014, Kentucky and South Carolina are both teams that are supposed to be better in the new-and-improved 2015 SEC East. However, they both left a lot to be desired in week one, despite pulling out wins.
How to watch Kentucky vs. South Carolina on TV or online, plus 3 things to know
Which team will shed the underachiever label?
What initially looked like a Kentucky blowout against UL-Lafayette turned into a nail-biter for the Wildcats. And while South Carolina pulled out a win against rival North Carolina in week one, the Gamecocks have a lot to work on. For both teams, the improvement needs to come from the quarterbacks. Both UK’s Patrick Towels and USC’s Connor Mitch need to be more inconsistent.
This game probably isn’t going to decide the SEC East, but it’s extremely important for both teams. For one, both need a shot in the arm to get where they want to go as programs, and it will also be important for bowl positioning late in the season.

Three big things to know
1. Mark Stoops has recruited well. Now he needs to win. He went from two wins in his first season to five wins last year, and getting to six wins (or more) and a bowl game would keep the momentum going. They’re going to have to win at least two conference games to get there, so getting one early would be a great start.
2. When is Spurrier 2.0 coming? He can’t lose this game to give fans confidence in the rest of the season. They snuck by North Carolina after twice being gifted identical interceptions in the end zone. A more consistent, positive effort against Kentucky would be a big help.
3. Both quarterbacks — Towles and Mitch — have potential, but need to be more consistent. This game is a chance to get better after shaky openers.
