After emotional week and win, entire Iowa team walks hand-in-hand to rivalry trophy

The Hawkeyes have been through a lot this week.

Saturday’s victory over rival Iowa State marked a high point in what has been a difficult week for the entire Iowa family. First, the world learned of the death of former Hawkeye star Tyler Sash. This led the team decided to include Sash’s No. 9 on a helmet for Saturday’s game against rival Iowa State. Then, on Friday, Iowa basketball legend Roy Marble passed away due to brain cancer.

The Hawkeyes fought hard, and they came out victorious. And then the team walked hand-in-hand to midfield to retrieve the rivalry trophy.

It was a powerful moment for the team, and for everyone watching. When they made their way back into the locker room, they allowed the trophy to take its place in front of a locker honoring Sash.
