Rutgers is in very bad shape right now. Scarlet Knights coach Kyle Flood was asked about the mess at his program on Monday. He didn’t like the question.
Chris Christie thinks the media should stop freaking out about Rutgers being a mess

— Kevin McGuire (@KevinOnCFB) September 14, 2015 Here are all the possibilities from the past two weeks that the question could have been referring to:
- Flood is actually in danger of losing his job for a reason entirely unrelated to on-field performance (which hasn’t been all that bad). He is being investigated for allegedly engaging in an inappropriate conversation with a professor over defensive back Nadir Barnwell’s grade.
- Barnwell and four teammates were arrested and dismissed from the team for various charges relating to an armed robbery.
- Rutgers’ best player, wide receiver Leonte Carroo, was arrested for simple assault after Saturday’s loss to Washington State and subsequently suspended indefinitely.
- Rutgers lost at home to Washington State, whose only other game this season was a loss to FCS Portland State.
New Jersey governor Chris Christie thinks the media should stop freaking out about all of this.
“The breathless media coverage of all of this - and every time there’s a problem or some indication of a problem, some deep-seated problem at Rutgers - man, you guys gotta find something else to do.”
