The Eastern Washington Eagles are headed to Eugene to take on the No. 7 Oregon Ducks for their 2015 season opener. As the Ducks are chasing a second shot at the national championship with a transfer under center, the Eagles are prepared to face a very familiar face.
How to watch Eastern Washington vs. Oregon on TV or online, plus 3 things to know
The Ducks are ready to make another run at the College Football Playoffs.
The main storyline ahead of this Week 1 matchup surrounds the Ducks new starting quarterback, Vernon Adams Jr., a graduate transfer from -- drum roll please -- Eastern Washington. Adam’s inaugural game in Oregon will be against his former team, that he led successfully for three seasons, amassing 110 passing and 11 rushing touchdowns.
After some offseason concern about whether Adams would actually graduate from Eastern Washington, he registered at Oregon and worked his way into the starting role for the Ducks. As someone who has already thrown for over 10,000 yards in his college career, he could be a good fit for an offense sans Marcus Mariota.
The Eagles might be relying on young talent to stop this familiar opponent, with a possible five freshman starting on the defensive line. The team also bolsters a talented secondary that claimed 19 interceptions in 2014, and could have an advantage over a newly formed Ducks offense.

Three big things to know
1. Moving on from Mariota
The Ducks are looking to continue their offensive attack with a new player under center. The groups chemistry will tell more about the team’s potential than the final stats.
2. Eagles new QB in spotlight
Oregon isn’t the only one with a new quarterback, Eastern Washington have called up Jordan West to fill the void left by Adams. West started four games when Adams was sidelined with an injury and was able to maintain the backup role.
3. Looking for a rhythm
Both teams will be looking to establish team chemistry Saturday, each introducing a new quarterback, receiver and defensive players.
