A year-and-a-half ago, the NCAA vowed to recommit itself to athletes with a new governance structure that would focus more on their needs. In the subhead of its own public relations release, it even noted that “student-athletes will vote at every governance level.”
Oklahoma football player on NCAA committee is upset over NCAA’s ‘frustrating’ lack of progress
The NCAA needs to get more done to help athletes.

The association passed the autonomy structure a year ago, along with cost-of-attendance scholarships, but it has done next to nothing since then. And that’s angering one of the athletes on the committee, Oklahoma center Ty Darlington.
“I feel like this should be done already,” Oklahoma football player Ty Darlington said about no resolution on time demand proposals, according to the NCAA. “This is frustrating for us. What are we doing today that’s significant? When I leave here today, what have I done to significantly impact the student-athlete experience? Nothing.”
Among the issues the NCAA is supposed to resolve are how to deal with time demands for athletes, and legislation to punish schools that don’t follow their own concussion protocol.
