Watson is the favorite after putting up Vince Young-like numbers on Alabama in the National Championship. He finished third in last year’s voting. This year, he’ll quarterback what will likely be the No. 1 team heading into the season.
McCaffrey could have been this year’s Heisman winner if the award was given out after bowl season. He dominated Iowa in a record-breaking Rose Bowl performance. Fournette would have won the half-season Heisman after a dominant start to the year.
Behind them are the quarterbacks of two top-tier teams, J.T. Barrett and Baker Mayfield. Barrett wasn’t even OSU’s starter until halfway through the season, while Mayfield finished fourth in this year’s voting.
