Chip Kelly doesn’t have to worry about prepping an NFL team for the playoffs. So instead, he took a trip to visit a team that still has something to play for.
Chip Kelly visited Alabama’s coaching staff, for some reason
Kelly is the latest high-profile coach to meet with the Crimson Tide staff during bowl season.

— Brett McMurphy (@McMurphyESPN) January 7, 2016 Kelly’s future has been a mystery since he was dumped by the Philadelphia Eagles in December. While he has stated his goal is to continue coaching in the NFL, a return to the college ranks where he turned Oregon into a powerhouse would not be out of the question. There’s no further detail on Kelly’s trip to Tuscaloosa -- whether he was there on his job hunt, potentially scouting players, or helping the Tide prepare for No. 1 Clemson’s spread offense.
While it may be a tenuous connection to link Kelly with the Tide, it’s worth noting that Alabama has hosted a big-name college football coach during bowl season in the past. That was back in 2013, and it led to Lane Kiffin being hired as offensive coordinator three weeks later.
