North Dakota State’s FCS dynasty will go on for one more year, as Bison won their fifth-straight title by dominating Jacksonville State 37-10. Quarterback Carson Wentz, a possible first round NFL Draft pick this April, played in his first game since breaking his wrist on Oct. 17, and looked pretty good despite not playing a game in nearly three months.
North Dakota State adds to ridiculous title streak with 5th straight FCS championship
The Bison are kings of FCS once again.

The Bison now stand alone as the only program to win five consecutive championships in NCAA football history, and they now belong in the pantheon of the greatest dynasties in the history of all of sports, not just college football. Head coach Chris Klieman has started his tenure in Fargo by going 28-3 with two championships after taking over for Craig Bohl.
Jacksonville State hung in with North Dakota State early, but the damn burst in the second quarter. A 3-0 lead for the Bison ballooned to 24-0 over a six-minute stretch, with Carson Wentz throwing a pair of touchdown passes and King Frazier picking up a rushing touchdown. NDSU scored on every drive in the first half before throwing a pick deep in Gamecock territory right before halftime.
The Gamecocks showed signs of life in the third quarter, picking up 10 straight points to make it a two score game at 24-10, but that was as close as they could get. North Dakota State dominated time of possession, holding the ball for over 40 minutes, and Jacksonville State simply didn’t have enough opportunities with the ball to have a reasonable shot at completing a comeback.
Wentz finished with a line of 16-30 for 197 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions, and also rushed for 79 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries. King Frazier got the bulk of the rushing carries for the Bison, going for 53 yards and a touchdown on 18 carries.
Eli Jenkins went 7-20 for only 57 yards and two interceptions for Jacksonville State, and rushed for 88 yards and a touchdown. The North Dakota State defense held down the normally-explosive Gamecocks offense for most of the day, holding them to only 204 total yards and forcing four turnovers.
