Missouri vs. Florida 2016: Start time, live stream, TV schedule, and 3 things to know

If Florida wants to stay alive in the SEC East, a win over Missouri is crucial.

The SEC East race looks like it will end with Tennessee winning the division, but that doesn’t mean other teams are completely out of contention. One of those teams is Florida, whose one SEC East loss on the season came against Tennessee. Florida comes into this game following an unexpected week of rest. The Gators’ game against LSU that was supposed to be played last weekend was rescheduled to Nov. 19 due to Hurricane Matthew.

Missouri, under first-year head coach Barry Odom. has struggled throughout the season, especially during SEC play. Mizzou is 2-3 on the season, with losses to West Virginia, Georgia, and LSU. Florida and Missouri have played just a total of five times, and the Tigers lead the series 3-2. The last two games played in Gainesville have been good ones, too. In 2012, Florida scored two unanswered touchdowns in the second half to win 14-7, and in 2014 the Tigers beat the Gators on Homecoming 42-13. Mizzou would go on to win the SEC East that season.

Three big things to know

1. Florida’s defense is one of the best in SEC: The Gators rank first in the league in both total and scoring defense. They are second in both rush defense and sacks in the SEC, as well. The Florida secondary’s eight interceptions on the year is also the most in the league.

2. Luke Del Rio is back: The sophomore had been sidelined for two weeks due to an MCL sprain he suffered against North Texas during Week 3. Prior to his injury, he completed 60 percent of his passes and threw six touchdowns along with just two interceptions. Back-up quarterback Austin Appleby started in Del Rio’s place against Tennessee.

3. Missouri is coming off of a bye: Although the Tigers are 3-2 since 2012 following a bye, it has lost its last two games coming off an open week. Last season the Tigers lost 31- 13 to Mississippi State, then in 2014 Mizzou dropped a home game against Georgia, losing 34-0.
