Georgia Tech gets a break from ACC conference play with a game against Georgia Southern on Saturday afternoon. The Yellow Jackets have lost their last three straight games. Last week, Georgia Tech rallied back from two 11-point deficits against Pittsburgh to take a 34-27 lead before halftime, but the Panthers scored 10 points in the last four minutes of the game to win 37-34.

Georgia Southern enters Saturday’s contest 3-2, with a 2-1 record in Sun Belt conference play. The Eagles are also riding a losing streak, dropping back-to-back games against Western Michigan and Arkansas State.
This is just the second time that these two programs have faced each other -- in 2014 the two met for the first time in Bobby Dodd Stadium. Georgia Tech had a 35-10 lead at halftime, but Georgia Southern rallied back in the second half, scoring four unanswered touchdowns to take a 38-35 lead. Georgia Tech managed to score a touchdown with with 25 seconds left to win 42-38.

Three big things to know
1. Georgia Southern has multiple run threats: Primarily a run-heavy option offense, the Eagles have found success on the ground with several different players, and there are multiple that average 50 yards or more per game. Included in that group are running backs Matt Breida, Wesley Fields, and L.A. Ramsby. Quarterbacks Favian Upshaw and Kevin Ellison also average at least 50 per game.
2. Georgia Tech QB Justin Thomas made school history last week: In the loss to Pittsburgh, Thomas eclipsed 2,000 rushing yards for his Yellow Jacket career. The senior quarterback is now the first Georgia Tech signal caller in school history with at least 3,500 yards passing and 2,000 rushing yards.
3. Georgia Southern is playing on the road again: The Eagles will be playing their third straight road contest on Saturday at Bobby Dodd -- they will play their fourth next week, against New Mexico State. The Eagles are the only FBS team in the country to play four consecutive road games in 2016.
