Texas A&M vs. Alabama 2016 odds: Tide double-digit favorites against unbeaten Aggies

The Texas A&M Aggies will try to keep their undefeated season alive on the road against the Alabama Crimson Tide as huge underdogs at the sportsbooks.

Randy Sartin-USA TODAY Sports

The Texas A&M Aggies are 4-2 straight up and 3-3 against the spread in their last six road games against conference opponents. The Aggies will face their toughest road test of the season this Saturday afternoon on the road against the Alabama Crimson Tide.

Texas A&M is an 18-point road underdog in Tuscaloosa at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. In their last trip to Alabama, Texas A&M lost 59-0 as an 11.5-point underdog.

In their last game before the bye, the Aggies blew a double-digit lead against Tennessee to have the game forced into overtime. This was the second time that Texas A&M had done so after blowing a 15-point lead against UCLA in their season opener, but in both cases the Aggies got the job done in overtime and kept their perfect season intact.

Texas A&M is 6-0 SU and 4-2 ATS heading into this season-defining matchup against the Crimson Tide.

Coming into this game off a bye week should be beneficial to Texas A&M, but historically that hasn’t been the case. The Aggies are 4-6 SU and 0-10 ATS in their last 10 games after a bye, per the OddsShark College Football Database.

Betting Line / Total: Alabama -18 / 58.5 Points

Trend: Alabama is 11-0 SU and 9-2 ATS in its last 11 games against teams with winning records.

Trend: The total has gone under in eight of Texas A&M’s last 11 games.

With Alabama going off as a 14-point favorite on the road against Tennessee last Saturday, some anticipated that the Volunteers could give the Crimson Tide a legitimate scare in Knoxville.

Instead, it was just another day at the office for Alabama, who cruised to a 49-10 win and cover. The win brought Alabama’s record to 7-0 SU and 5-2 ATS on the season, with the Crimson Tide winning by an average margin of 30.4 points per game. Alabama has won each of its last 19 games.

Saturday’s total is set at 58.5 points. The UNDER is 8-3 in Texas A&M’s last 11 games.

The Aggies deserve respect for what has been a great season to this point, and they’ve played fairly well on both sides of the ball. But this year’s Alabama team is one of the most complete teams that Nick Saban has ever assembled, and it’s hard to see them tripping up at home heading into a bye week next week.
